ORLANDO, Fla - It has been an ongoing battle all over central Florida when it comes to medical marijuana. Voters overwhelmingly showed their support for medical marijuana use in the Sunshine Statelast November, but since then, several cities banned dispensaries from moving in.The parking lot was full Tuesday along North Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando as Trulieve opened its 13th store in Florida across from the Fairview Marina. The company opened the first dispensary in Florida in July 2016.

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - People from all over the state lined up for hours to be part of the grand opening of Lee County's first medical marijuana dispensary.Tuesday morning, Trulieve, a medical marijuana treatment center, opened a location in North Fort Myers. The store is the company's 12th location. "It's worth it; I don't mind taking the drive as long as I know when I go home Lily is going to feel good," Victoria Mundaca said of her 3-year-old daughter who has leukemia.Mundaca said medical marijuana is the only remedy they've used that has been able to give her daughter a somewhat normal life."She's going to get the relief that she needs, she's going to be able to eat her dinner tonight, she's going to be able to sleep tonight, she's going to get rid of that headache that she always has," Victoria said about the relief the medical marijuana gives Lily.

Trulieve workers say the opening creates easier access to medication for patients suffering from anything from cancer to traumatic stress.“It’s just an extra burden on the patients to pay an extra delivery fee,” said Victoria Walker, Trulieve Communications Director.

About five months after Gainesville’s first medical marijuana dispensary opened, a second started serving patients Friday.Trulieve, a Florida-based medical marijuana provider, opened its 10th in-state location at 1527 NW Sixth St., for patients to visit and pick up their medication, spokesperson Victoria Walker said. The company had delivered medical marijuana to patients’ Gainesville homes before its store opened.Patients registered through the Florida Department of Health for medical marijuana use can purchase products, including oils, concentrates, creams, capsules and herb, Walker said.

Trulieve marijuana dispensary opens in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –  A Tallahassee-based medical marijuana company further expanded operations this week, opening its doors to patients in Alachua County.Trulieve’s newest dispensary is the second one to open in Gainesville this year. Knox Medical, a Winter Garden-based medical marijuana treatment center (MMTC), first opened its doors in the college town back in May.Trulieve will hold a grand opening for the new dispensary on Friday at 1527 Northwest 6th Street in Gainesville. The new location is expected to offer a variety of low and high-THC products, available in various deliverable forms, consistent with other Trulieve dispensaries.“Our goal is to be everywhere where there is a population of patients,” said Victoria Walker, Trulieve community relations spokesperson. “We’ve been delivering to Gainesville for some time now and our patients are not shy about telling us where they would like us to be.”

A second Gainesville medical marijuana dispensary will open Friday.Trulieve, a medical marijuana dispensary, will open its first Gainesville location at 1527 NW 6th St. in the Gateway Park area, said Victoria Walker, who works in community relations for the company.Trulieve will join Knox Medical as one of the two medical marijuana dispensaries in Gainesville — its second to open within the last five months. Knox Medical opened May 19.
