Trulieve TruWax is a handcrafted concentrate, developed using a cold ethanol extraction and a careful hand-whipping technique over low heat. The result is an aromatic, clay-like full-spectrum concentrate that retains the flavor, cannabinoids, terpenes, and resulting effects from the strain it was derived from.
Like other Trulieve concentrates, the TruWax was developed for use with the Trulieve Concentrate Pen or the PuffCo Plus. Additionally, TruWax is a full-spectrum product; however, due to the nuanced extraction process, TruWax has a much fuller spectrum, making it an elevated experience for patients.
Q: How is TruWax made?
TruWax is made using a cold ethanol extraction process, as well as a hand whipping technique over very low heat. This process happens several times to achieve the finished medicine.
Q: What is the consistency of TruWax? / How does the consistency differ from Shatter or TruCRMBL?
TruWax is clay-like in texture, ranging from drier to wetter depending on the strain type. Unlike the hardened and drier textures of Shatter and TruCRMBL, the texture will be soft and malleable.
Q: What is nucleation? / Why does TruWax look “greasy”?
If you have ever experienced a Shatter that has “sugared” after some time or after frequent temperature changes, that means the medicine has begun to nucleate. This is not an indication of a decrease in quality, but a phase change in the medicine itself. This means that the cannabinoids are collecting, and terpenes are slowly moving to the exterior of the medicine.
With TruWax, this is carefully controlled and results in an exceptional nose (smell) and concentration of cannabinoids. However, due to the formulation, the resulting “greasy” or “wet” appearance is the result of terpenes collecting on the outside of the TruWax.
Q: What makes TruWax different from Shatter or TruCRMBL?
TruWax made using a labor-intensive process when compared to Shatter and TruCRMBL, resulted in a handcrafted, artisanal product. The purge times are also shorter for TruWax. Ethanol will still be removed, but this will result in a slightly fuller spectrum of relief and aroma.
Q: Will TruWax have a higher concentration of active ingredients compared to Shatter or TruCRMBL?
TruWax will be within the same range as Shatter and TruCRMBL but, much like our other concentrates, the strength will vary dependent on strain and batch.
Q: Is TruWax strain-specific?
Yes, all TruWax is strain-specific.
Q: How is TruWax dispensed?
Like other concentrates, TruWax will be dispensed under a patient’s inhalation allotment.
Q: How should I store TruWax?
As this medicine is nucleated storing the medicine in its container in a cool area or fridge would be recommended. Optimal storage temperatures range from 42 – 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
Q: Will there be any variation in color or texture?
There may be slight color and texture variations of the TruWax based on batch and strain. This is not an indicator of better or worse quality, but a showing of the specific harvest’s resin gland maturity. Different strains (and even different batches within the same strain) can have variation in the development of the plant's resinous glands; not all strains produce hash or concentrated medicines in the same way. The different terpene profiles, unique to each strain, will also play a factor in the color and texture of TruWax.
However, if a concentrate medicine is past its expiration date or reaching the later stages of its shelf life, a darker color can typically be an indicator of quality. This indicates that it has begun to oxidize.
Q: Is there anything added back into TruWax?
No, the extraction process preserves the original terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids, so nothing is reintroduced.
