Trulieve Milestones: 10 Years of Blazing Trails
A Decade of Progress, Access, and Innovation in Florida & Beyond
For the past 10 years, Trulieve has been part of a remarkable journey—one that helped shape the medical cannabis landscape in Florida and expand access for patients across the state. What began with a vision for access to reliable, quality-tested cannabis has grown into a decade defined by innovation, advocacy, and meaningful milestones.
This anniversary is more than a celebration of where we've been. It's an opportunity to reflect on the people, moments, and breakthroughs that helped move the cannabis industry forward in Florida and beyond. From opening our first store to launching new product formats and supporting community-driven initiatives, each milestone represents a step toward greater access, choice, and opportunity for patients.
1. Where the Trail Took Root
Every journey starts somewhere. Before the first store opened and before the first product reached a patient, the foundation was being built for a new chapter in cannabis in the state. The early years were focused on creating the infrastructure, expertise, and commitment needed to support patients for years to come.
2. The First Stop on the Trail
In 2016, Trulieve opened its first dispensary in Tallahassee, creating a new point of access for patients and marking the beginning of a statewide journey. What started as one location would become the first step toward serving communities throughout Florida.
3. The First Purchase Changed Everything
The first legal medical cannabis sale in Florida represented more than a transaction—it marked a historic moment for patient access. It was a milestone that signaled a new era and opened the door for countless patients seeking alternative options.
4. Taking the Trail Statewide
Access has always been at the heart of progress. The launch of Florida's first statewide home delivery program helped connect patients with the products they needed, making medical cannabis more accessible to communities across the state.
5. Flower Took the Lead
When smokable flower became legal in Florida, it marked a defining moment for the industry. The addition of flower expanded choice, introduced new possibilities for patients, and quickly became one of the state's most significant cannabis categories.
6. More Ways to Explore Cannabis
As the industry evolved, so did patient preferences. The introduction of concentrates like TruWax, crumble, and shatter expanded product offerings and helped usher in a new era of cannabis innovation in Florida.
7. A New Favorite Joins the Menu
The arrival of edibles gave patients another way to incorporate cannabis into their routines. Familiar, approachable, and convenient, edibles quickly became an important addition to Florida's growing cannabis landscape.
8. Advocacy, Awareness, and Second Chances
Progress extends beyond products. Through giveback initiatives and community partnerships, efforts have helped raise awareness and support individuals impacted by cannabis prohibition. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to creating meaningful change and advancing conversations around access, opportunity, and second chances.
9. Showing Up for Veterans' Access
Supporting veterans has been an important part of the journey. Through outreach efforts on the Red, White & Blue Tour, more veterans have gained access to Florida's medical cannabis program, helping connect those who served with resources, support, and education.
10. Supporting Seniors' Wellness & Neurological Care
Through community outreach, education, and partnerships that raise awareness for neurological conditions like MS, ALS, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease, we're empowering seniors and their caregivers to navigate their health journeys with confidence and informed decisions.
The Trail Goes On
Over the last decade, the cannabis industry has evolved in extraordinary ways.
Through it all, patients have remained at the center of the journey. At Trulieve, our efforts are shaped by what we call our pillars of purpose—including serving seniors and veterans with special outreach and access targeted to their needs, supporting patients dealing with cancer and other conditions, and advocating for restorative justice for those impacted by prohibition. All of these reflect our commitment to making a true difference in every life we touch. And every milestone represents progress made possible by the communities, advocates, team members, and patients who believed in a different future for cannabis in Florida.
Ten years later, the mission remains the same: keep pushing forward, keep expanding access, and keep blazing trails for the next generation of patients. As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we're grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey—and excited for everything still to come.
