Now, more than ever, the over fifty portion of the population are consuming marijuana now more than at any other time in history. So much so that they are leaving other age groups in the dust.

New York University's School of Medicine and Columbia University conducted a study and discovered that between 2006 and 2013, cannabis consumption increased by approximately 60 percent among those falling into the baby boomer generation - ages 50-to-64.

Even more surprising is that rate increase by 250 percent for those over the age of 65.

The two groups combined constitute about a 71 percent increase overall.

One survey indicated that although marijuana use among adolescents has gone down in the last ten years, it has nearly tripled among adults who are over 50.
