All About Trulieve's Cannabis Container Recycling Initiative in West Virginia

Since Trulieve first opened in Florida back in 2016, we have set the standard for sustainability in the cannabis industry through waste-reduction efforts and recycling programs to meet the eco-conscious expectations of today’s cannabis user. 

Trulieve West Virginia offers a recycling program* in partnership with TerraCycle® that incentivizes customers to return their used cannabis containers in exchange for in-store rewards. Once the containers have been cleaned of product residue and brought into participating Trulieve dispensaries, the materials are recycled into raw materials that can be used to make new products, helping to keep waste out of local landfills.

The program has successfully collected and recycled an estimated 1,197 pounds of waste from returned cannabis packaging in West Virginia alone – and roughly 74,800 pounds in total for the entire initiative. 

Similar to our TruRecycle program in Florida, customers who bring in five cleaned Trulieve containers will receive a discount to use on their next visit—our way of saying thanks for participating in our mission towards a greener, more sustainable future.
