Trulieve West Virginia Celebrates Bridge Day

Join Team Trulieve at West Virginia’s biggest annual celebration

Every October, thousands of West Virginians and visitors gather high above the New River Gorge for one of the state’s largest and most exciting traditions, Bridge Day. Hosted at the iconic New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, this one-day festival brings together communities across the Mountain State for a one-of-a-kind celebration 46 years in the making.

Trulieve is proud to once again take part in Bridge Day to connect with attendees and celebrate the spirit of West Virginia’s biggest annual festival.

What is Bridge Day?

Since beginning in 1980, Bridge Day has grown into an annual tradition held every third Saturday in October. The festival honors the New River Gorge Bridge, which opened in 1977 and remains the longest steel arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere and the second highest vehicle-carrying bridge in the United States.

Set amongst the picturesque backdrop of the Appalachian mountains at the peak time of fall foliage, thousands of visitors, adrenaline seekers, and West Virginians converge at the 876-foot-high steel arch bridge for a day packed with adventure and community. From local food tastings and a 5K run to rappelling, zip-lining BASE jumping, guided bridge catwalk tours, and rows of vendors from across the state, Bridge Day offers something for everyone.

For West Virginians, this homegrown tradition showcases the state’s natural beauty, local businesses, and community pride at a historic national landmark.

Who Can Jump Off The Bridge?

One of the biggest draws of Bridge Day is the thrill of watching daredevils leap, rappel, and zip line from the bridge. But not just anyone can take the plunge:

  • BASE jumpers must have at least 50 prior parachute jumps, skydives, or BASE jumps to register.

  • Rappelling teams are chosen through a lottery, and participants must be experienced with proper rack training and a proven record of rappels of least 250 feet to apply.

  • Zip line riders can be anyone ages 10+ and at least 4 feet tall, taking a 700-foot ride from the bridge’s catwalk down to the Fayette Station Road. Spaces are limited and reservations are required

For everyone else, the best seat in the house is on the bridge itself, cheering on the action from above.
