Honoring Mental Health Awareness Month: Supporting Veterans on the Path to Healing

Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to raise visibility around mental wellness, reduce stigma, and highlight resources that save lives. At Trulieve, this commitment is especially meaningful when it comes to veterans’ mental health. Those who have served our country often carry invisible wounds long after their service ends, and addressing these needs requires compassion, community, and action.

Roll-up and Give Back

In May, Trulieve is honored to partner with two respected veteran-focused organizations, Stop Soldier Suicide and The Independence Fund. Patients and customers in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, and Maryland can show their support by rounding up their purchase to the nearest dollar or donating a specific amount at the register.

These organizations are dedicated to expanding access to life-saving mental health care, fostering peer connection, and providing long-term support for veterans who need it most. Trulieve is proud to help make a meaningful difference for those who have served our country.

Stop Soldier Suicide: Saving Lives Through Precision Care

Stop Soldier Suicide (SSS) is a veteran-founded, national nonprofit organization with a clear and focused mission: end suicide among U.S. veterans and service members. Their vision is a future where veterans face no greater risk of suicide than any other American.

SSS advances its mission through two complementary efforts. The ROGER Wellness Service delivers free, one-on-one, suicide-specific clinical care tailored to veterans and active-duty service members who are at risk. The Black Box Project works to save lives at scale by converting data into actionable insight, improving the ability to identify and predict suicide risk and enabling earlier, more effective intervention.

The Independence Fund: Rebuilding Connection Through Operation Resilience

Trulieve is proud to once again partner with The Independence Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering our nation’s veterans through increased mobility, mental health support, and successful community reintegration. In 2025, Trulieve sponsored an Operation Resilience retreat that reunited combat veterans for an immersive experience focused on healing. The program fosters peer reconnection and unit bonding to help restore unit cohesion, offers clinical workshops designed to increase engagement in long-term care, and provides therapeutic, resilience-building activities that support overall well-being.

“Trulieve’s support of our Operation Resilience program is a powerful example of what it means to truly invest in our nation’s veterans. Because of their support, we were able to reunite dozens of combat veterans, restore the critical bonds that heal them, and connect them to life-changing resources and long-term support. These moments of reconnection are more than meaningful; they are lifesaving.”

-Doug Ackerman, COO of The Independence Fund

Strengthening Veteran Well‑Being Together

At Trulieve, we believe wellness extends beyond physical health. Supporting veteran mental health is part of our broader commitment to community, compassion, and resilience.

Supporting veterans is not a one-time effort, it’s a shared responsibility. Together, we can honor their service, restore connection, and advance mental health resources for those who have given so much.
