The Surfers for Autism mission: Unlocking the potential of children and adults with autism, building awareness and uniting communities through volunteerism.

Autism is far more common than most people realize. But being common doesn't mean being included. Many autistic athletes are overlooked in mainstream recreation, and even in some adaptive programs, because environments aren't built for sensory needs, different communication styles, or individualized support.

Families learn to keep to themselves feeling very left out. Kids and adults miss out on friendships, confidence, and the simple relief of being understood.

That isolation also affects the whole household. Siblings often love deeply, but can feel invisible as schedules, finances, and emotional energy are stretched thin.

But imagine a child who has always been told they don’t quite fit in, suddenly standing on a board, feeling the ocean lift them up, and hearing cheers from a beach full of people who see them, celebrate them, and believe in them. That’s what your support makes possible.
