Endosystem

The process of metabolizing, processing, and experiencing the effects of cannabis is as unique for each person as their biological makeup.

Cannabis products contain unique chemical compounds derived from the plant known as Cannabinoids, Terpenoids (also referred to as terpenes), and Flavonoids.

Following consumption, these active components bind to neurological receptors of the Endocannabinoid System located throughout the body to provide the user with a variety of therapeutic benefits.

━  WHAT IS THC?   ━

WHAT IS THC?

The main psychoactive cannabinoid incorporated into medical and adult-use cannabis products is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Endosystem

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most researched and well-known of the four hundred compounds found in the plant and is primarily responsible for the euphoric, mind-altering effects, in addition to its robust therapeutic benefits.

THC exists in the plant as tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, which must be decarboxylated (or converted to THC) before consumption via high temperatures for it to provide the desired benefits.

In addition to THC, cannabis products often contain several beneficial cannabinoids including:

Cannabidiol

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-euphoric compound that can help regulate the neuroendocrine system and inflammatory processes. Both THC and CBD are better pain modulators when combined versus when consumed separately.

Cannabinol

Cannabinol (CBN) is formed as THC ages and oxidizes and supports the immune and nervous systems with little to no psychoactive effects.

━ Types of Cannabis ━

TYPES OF CANNABIS

Indica

Indica strains typically produce sedative-like effects to help calm the mind and body, relieve stress, and relax the muscles. Because of this, Indica products are recommended for nighttime consumption to promote sleep.

Hybrid

Hybrid strains are a mix of Sativa and Indica, though the balance between the two can vary. As a result, the experiences will also vary, and Hybrids are generally recommended for use at any time of day depending on the desired effect.

Sativa

Sativa strains are known to be uplifting and energizing and are traditionally recommended for daytime use. Sativa products commonly produce effects including elevated mood, increased energy, and mental stimulation.

Product Variety

A major benefit of using cannabis to help relieve medical ailments is the versatility of how these products can be applied.

There are several key factors to consider when determining which products to choose including:

  • The individual's medical ailment or affliction
  • Desired effects
  • Preferred time of consumption (daytime versus nighttime)
  • Method of administration
  • Previous experience with cannabis
