To our employees, patients, customers and partners,
Black lives matter. In the past weeks, the country has seen ugly incidents of black Americans being harassed and killed at the hands of fellow citizens and of law enforcement. Sadly, these events are not isolated or new, and the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery have joined a long list of black lives wrongly taken.
We share in the outrage that is being felt across this country, and we stand with and support our employees, our patients, and everyone who is using their voice and their rights to peacefully protest. We also recognize and stand for our law enforcement officials and first responders who are supporting our communities -- not just during these troubling times, but every day.
Our mission as a company is to improve people’s lives. But we won’t limit that mission to the products we sell. We have and will continue to apply that mission to the larger communities we serve, people we employ, and the policies we implement to advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. As a sponsor of Minorities for Medical Marijuana and a member of the National Cannabis Roundtable, we have pledged to pursue corporate social responsibility through several pillars of diversity and inclusion activity, including social justice measures and equity in business opportunities. Social justice must be a part of every company’s values, and we reaffirm our commitment to Diversity & Inclusion -- not just being part of what we do, but a priority of who we are.
Our hopes are that peaceful protests and non-violent demonstrations will force the conversation this country needs. As a company, our team will continue to embrace our deep commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in hopes that raising our voices together will contribute to the conversation in a positive and impactful way to avoid injustice in the future.
